Shipping industry is one of the important fundamental industry of nationaleconomy in our country. However, since the21st century, blind investment to the shipmanufacturing has become increasingly serious. After the world financial crisis in2008, the domestic shipbuilding entered the stage of severe overcapacity. Manyshipbuilding companies are facing loss, and the pressure to raise efficiency and reduceproduction cost for the whole shipbuilding industry is building up quickly. Especiallythe extensive management mode formed when the market is brisk makes theproduction and management cost very difficult to control. How to lean managementshipping materials and optimize material management system become an importanttask faced by the whole industry.Combining with the domestic and international several ship manufacturingcompanies’ experience on informatization platform management, sticking to theproblem that the current research on material management system for shipbuildingindustry is not enough, this paper takes Jiangsu Daoda Heavy Industry Co., LTDinformation management platform construction as the research background, toexpound and discusses the material management system of the company from theaspects of whole information system requirements, basic structure, procurementmanagement, warehouse management and material management cycle improvement.This paper also studies this company’s process of material management systemreorganizing.In the process of material management system reorganizing for Jiangsu DaodaHeavy Industry Co., LTD, combined with the characteristic of the shipping industry, itresearches and discusses the miscellaneous requirements of shipyard’s ERP system,emphatically puts forward the requirements on the purchasing management and warehouse management of material management system. At the same time, itemphatically researches the process of material management system reengineering forthe purchasing management and warehouse management while implementing thematerial management ERP system, formed a set of fairly complete shipyard materialmanagement system. In the research process, throughout the entire materialmanagement system, ship manufacturing industry logistics features are taken as thebackground, the related material code for ship is analyzed. Based on the relevantapplication technology of TRIBON ship design software, a comprehensive materialcode system for ship is built up.Due to the ship material management business process reorganizing proposed inthis paper is combined with the actual situation of Jiangsu Daoda Heavy Industry Co.,LTD, and summarizes out through empirical research. The system helped JiangsuDaoda Heavy Industry Co., LTD to realize the collaborative operation, leanmanagement in each department from purchasing management, warehousemanagement and other logistics link. So it will give a certain reference for domesticshipbuilding industry now in process or prepare to build material managementinformatization.
