Since China’s reform and opening up, Chinese people’s life level and the consumption level gradually improve, tourists are increasingly mature, vacation tourism gradually becomes a popular way of traveling. In1992the state council approved set up12national resorts, marked the start of our country in the modern sense of the public holiday making travel, which contributed to the development of holiday making travel and establishing resorts all over the country. For tourists, resorts has become one of the important tourism destination of leisure and relax. For resorts investors, the location, type, size of resorts and so on all affect its future profitability. For operators in the face of increasingly fierce competition, Operation and management of resorts is also an important task. For relevant government departments, needing to face the important issue is:how to maximize the resources deployment of resorts, in meet the demand of holiday travelers while protecting the resorts and the surrounding environment, realizing resorts orderly and healthy development.Due to the large number of construction of resorts and the centralized trend development, spatial competition has become one of the focus of competition of the current resorts. The spatial distribution of resorts in China is imbalance, economy is relatively developed areas of eastern and central China, resorts’ number is more, agglomeration phenomenon is obvious, and holiday tourism products are basically similar, lacking of theme features, easy to cause a waste of resources and destruction; Western area with beautiful environment, resources quality high, but the number of resorts is less, distribution is more dispersed. This paper, taking the national31provinces as the research area, mainly using ArcGIS spatial analysis method, puts the china grade-a resorts into the spatial dimension, the space-time distribution characteristics and influencing factors were analyzed, and optimization Suggestions of its space distribution are put forward. There are six parts in this paper. First chapter is the introduction, which mainly analyzing the research background, research purpose and meaning, and this part explains the research content, combs and summarizes the domestic and foreign literature review about the resorts. The second chapter research and design, mainly introduced the theoretical basis, research design and data collection, etc. In the third chapter, China grade-a resorts are the research objects,ArcGIS software is used to study its space-time distribution characteristics, and to compare on the basis of theme types and grades. The study showed that:the development of China’s grade-a resorts is divided into three stages:the early stage of development, rapid development stage and stable stage of development; the type of grade-a resorts is developed gradually from single to diversification, dominant type also is not the same in different stage of development, and different levels of grade-a resorts in quantity has the trend of widening gap. On dimensional layout of grade-a resorts, the spatial distribution of China grade-a resorts is unbalanced and the phenomenon of agglomeration is more obvious, mainly in China’s eastern and central regions; Spatial distribution types of grade-a resorts is the condensing type, whose distribution is concentrated; Within the scope of the national space, there are three high density of grade-a resorts:high density of around the bohai sea, the Yangtze river delta high density and the pearl river delta high density; Different types and grades of grade-a resorts present different spatial distribution. The fourth chapter mainly uses the method of quantitative and qualitative, discussing the factors of affecting China grade-a resorts’ spatial distribution. The fifth chapter mainly puts forward the optimization Suggestions of China grade-a resorts’ spatial distribution. The sixth chapter is the conclusion and prospect, which mainly introduces the conclusions of this study, the shortage and the outlook of the research.
