Evaluation And Research On The Suppliers Of The Equipments For The Project Of Company B

As one international Steel-producer, company B has already come through different stages of project construction, since being funded in1978. Different construction models are applied and many successful experiences are gathered. Due to the fact that the equipment investment covers about60%of the overall project investment, the equipment purchasing management is becoming more and more important, it is one determinant factor for one successful construction project, and the equipment suppliers’ management is one of the key points for equipment purchasing.The character of the engineering project makes its purchasing different from other projects. The products to be purchased are of small quantity, variety of specification and strict technical requests. This paper is to discuss how to apply the supply chain theory in the actual engineering project purchasing practice and to study the evaluation of the suppliers according to the actual project practice.The study on engineering project purchasing managing is gradually increasing recently in China. To evaluate the suppliers, model is put forward within this paper, which is based on the supply chain coordination theory and the balanced scorecard. And performance evaluation index system is built by means of the system analyzing of the factors affecting the supplying ability of the suppliers and according to the strategy positioning and principles for designing the index of company B as well. Supplier evaluation index weight is resulted from the Analytic Hierarchy Process and the specialists’ evaluation on the index importance. The evaluation standard is improved according to the purpose of company B on the suppliers’ performance evaluation and the relating state standard and existing company standard of company B, it becomes much more practical and easy to be applied.
