Research On Transformation And Upgrading Of Chinese Furniture Industry From The Visual Angle Of Global Value Chains

From1998to2012, export percentage of Chinese furniture was increasing. However, export percentage of Chinese furniture began decreasing in2013, which may be the crisis of Chinese furniture industry. So when Chinese furniture industry faces this situation, we have to pay more attention to it in case of continuous decrease..This research has seven chapters, in which chapter3, chapter4chapter5and chapter6are the most important parts. Chapter3is to analyze domestic situation of Chinese furniture industry and especially we find that Chinese furniture industry gathers in some special places and depends on the foreign markets. Chapter4is to analyze global situation of Chinese furniture industry in the global value chains; compare china with traditional countries of producing furniture such as German and Italy; compare china with emerging countries of producing furniture such as Poland and Mexico and finally study the main countries of furniture consumption. In the Chapter five, we find that the increasing price of furniture raw material and RMB appreciation are threating Chinese furniture industry. In the Chapter six, we provide some suggestions:developing intra-furniture-industry trade, carrying on local strategy and taking advantage of finance methods to decreasing risk.This research has three findings:the first is that intra-furniture-industry trade contributes to Germanic success; the second is that localization influences the furniture trade and the third is that Poland and Mexico are the main competitors for Chinese furniture industry. I hope my study is helpful to the future of Chinese furniture industry.
