Empirical Analysis And Path Selection For The Agglomeration Of Equipment Manufacturing Industry

The transformation of the old industrial areas remains a puzzle to many countries over the years. Tiexi district is the main industrial area of Shenyang city, and it is also the source of atmospheric pollution and the heavily polluted area. Tiexi old industrial district is facing new challenges of profound transformation and economic transition under a wide diversity of pressures, including increasingly outdated equipment, slow upgrading, strong desire to improve the living environment,adjustment of industrial structure, and accelerating urban transformation. Since 2002,Tiexi district has changed its strategy for development, striving to build this area into a major equipment manufacturing industry center, forging six leading industries,including a high-end CNC machine tools industry and a general petrochemical equipment industry, as well as five industry clusters with production values of over worth of hundred billion Yuan, including the electrical industry and new energy industry. Tiexi district has explored a new model of Chinese style for the renovation of old industrial areas, and become a regional model for booming China’s old industry bases. In this study, the basic theory of regional economics was taken as the foundation, combining empirical analysis, focusing on the strategies adopted to build Tiexi into advanced equipment manufacturing industry cluster. Deep investigation was conducted in this area and industrial concentration measurement was used to make analysis and evaluation of the Tiexi equipment manufacturing industry concentration degree in a bid to further explore the road for development for industry cluster areas.The first two chapters is a theoretical review, and the core content is the overview of industrial cluster theory and its development context and development framework.The basic meaning, industrial agglomeration factors, and measurement methods were studied and the relationship between industrial agglomeration and the growth of regional economy was explored, concluding that the essence of industry cluster is the scale economy resulting from the geographical agglomeration of production factors and economic activities. Chapter Three mainly deals with the development of equipment manufacturing industry in Tiexi, Shenyang, summarizes the practical experiences accumulated during this transition period, and then calculates the industry concentration degree using the location entropy measuring method of Shenyang equipment manufacturing industry. On the basis of the detailed analysis of the value of industry location quotient, the status and problems of the equipment manufacturing industry are analyzed, and conclusions are drawn accordingly. The fourth chapter putsforward proposals to promote the development of the cluster area of Shenyang equipment manufacturing industry in Tiexi on the basis of theoretical and empirical analysis, including how to expand the advantages of Tiexi equipment manufacturing industry cluster to further boost the leading industries and upgrade the regional competitive ability in a comprehensive way.
