In this article, we investigated and studied the current situation of smartphone manufacturers in Shenzhen. Based on those findings, we use SWOT analysis and Porter five forces analysis to analyse the competitivenesses of those companies when they are going international. For smartphone manufacturers in Shenzhen, “going abroad” is not only an optimal and necessary choice, but also the best option. It is our finding that the smartphone manufacturers in Shenzhen has their unique advantages when they are trying to “go abroad,” as well as several obvious obstacles. For those enterprises, The most important thing is to have appropriate self-evaluation and get prepared for the foreign markets. Based on those analysis, we discussed the potential risks and benefits of “going abroad” for those companies and offered them short-term and long-term strategic suggestions. In terms of potential risk, the smartphone manufacturers in Shenzhen should pay special attention on the intellectual property, legal and financial risks. However, considering the signiciant potential profits, it still makes perfect sense to go abroad and explore the international market. Strategically, the smartphone manufacturers in Shenzhen should focus on survival when they first approach the foreign markets. To achive that, we analysed and suggested three plans: entering through carriers, direct sale, and acquiring local companies. In terms of long-term strategies, the smartphone manufacturers in Shenzhen should focus on the the development of their own brands and the global intergration. That is the only way to succeseful global enterprises. Meanwhile, it is important for our government to provide sufficient support because the supports from country are always essential in the success of any global enterprises.
