It’s the new economical growing point of Rugao.We have researched the gardening industry production bases and the development situation of gardening industry market of Rugao from 2010 to 2012. And combined the related document and learned from the researching result about the gardening industry industry development of domestic and international, based on analysis about the gardening industry industry development feature and tendency of our country, we have researched the development and prospect of Rugao City’s gardening industry.From 2007, planting area of Rugao City remained roughly constant, while planting sales are still rising. Among these, the flower industry is developing fast. In 2012, the flower planting area increased to 15933.34 hm2 from 5303 hm2 in 2005. The flower sales amount increased to 4.236 billion from 0.4 hm2. It was as 10 times as 8 years ago. The proportion of 9.44 percent of the total output value of agriculture and 16.44 percent of the total output value of crop farming crop were observed in 2005 and these proportions grew to 49.8% and 89.97% respectively. It indicated the flower industry to become key industry of agriculture in Rugao City.The education level of stuff of the flower industry in Rugao City was not high. The percent of stuff with higher education qualification was less 16%. So did technicians. The percentage rang of stuff with relative certifications were from 12.3% to 17.4%. However, among these were brokers. The flower industry was poor in diversifications, including horticulture potted flower, foliage plant, aquatic flowers, turf and so on. Horticulture seedling occupied a dominant position. Meanwhile, marketing channel was various which included farmer agents (broker), detail shops, cooperation, flower markets, exhibitions and Internet and so on. In addition,88.89% people in this survey thought that the lack of land resource was the maximum constraints.In this survey, the limited land and capital source were the main restricting factors for the development of flower industry in Rugao City. The general ideas were established for development flower industry in Rugao City. Characteristics of floral industry will be formed by relying on scientific and technological progress, adoption of a new technology. Firstly, resources must be integrated, and investment must be increased to Implement large-scale, industrialized and factory management and enhance the development of superior agricultural products. Secondly, enhance the importance of technology in flower industry and continue to strengthen construction of technological faculties and education of stuff. Thirdly, macro-economic control and instrument should be enhanced by local government and independent intellectual property should be cultivated for floral varieties and brands by setting brand strengthen market competition. In addition, Rugao City should develop flower products with advantages, and strengthen the construction of logistics and information technology.
