Under the background of global urbanization and economic globalization, the development of urban agglomeration gradually replaces the city and becoming a new regional unit to participate in global competition and international division of labor. It also has a profound impact on the international competitiveness of the country and the new pattern of the global economy. Urban agglomeration is the highest form of spatial organization in urban development to the mature stage, so the evolution of urban agglomeration space organization may eventually form a unique spatial organization model. On the basis of this possibility, we find that some urban agglomeration in foreign countries, their spatial organization structure of the urban agglomeration is constantly evolving, and ultimately the formation of the spatial organization model. In this paper, the connotation and characteristics of urban agglomeration spatial organization model is analyzed through a comparative study of domestic and international spatial organization model. This paper combine with some relevant research results, according to the related theory of economic geography and other related economic subjects, discussion and summary the development and evolution of the urban agglomeration all over the world, and according to the characteristics of concise which can form the space organization mode, then take the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration as an example which to be analyzed firstly. On the basis of understanding the evolution of the spatial organization of the urban agglomeration and the general characteristics of its performance, we give some suggestions on the development of urban agglomeration in China. In view of the target, this paper first defines the connotation of urban agglomeration and its model, and the foreign urban agglomeration how to develop and evolve even eventually form an effective development model. Then take the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration as an example, analysis the scale, structure and function of the urban agglomeration to understand its evolution process, then according to the quantitative features concise which can help to form the spatial organization pattern of the urban agglomeration. A comparative analysis of the role of the factors on the formation of spatial organization model, and the comparison between the spatial organization model and the spatial organization model of the Yangtze River Delta, then points out the practical problems in the evolution of urban agglomeration in the Yangtze River Delta as well as the improvement of the model. The results show that: the scale of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration is expanding, whether the spatial scale or economic scale is constantly expanding, the urban functions are constantly evolving, the functional transformation and the professional improvement of urban functions all have their own characteristics. On the whole, the development of urban agglomeration in China has made some progress, but there is still a certain gap compared with some foreign countries. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the new path and the core strategy of urban agglomeration spatial organization model, and then to provide constructive suggestions for the development of China’s large urban agglomeration.
