In recent years, the total assets of the insurance industry in our country. Insurance industry’s total assets at the end of 2014 to 10 trillion, investable assets exceed 9 trillion. The constant improvement of the total amount of insurance funds, to the capital operation of insurance company has brought unprecedented opportunities and challenges. How to efficient use of insurance funds, improve the insurance fund investment portfolio returns, disperse investment risk, become one of important hot topic in the field of development of China’s insurance industry.To this end, China’s insurance regulator perfecting related policies on use of insurance funds, broaden the insurance fund investment channels, provide policy support for the better use of insurance funds. In July 2007, the China insurance regulatory commission, the central people’s bank and the state administration of foreign exchange jointly issued "interim measures for overseas investment of insurance funds management", is the insurance company to participate in the relevant matters on foreign investment. In October 2012, the implementing rules for the overseas investment of insurance fluids management interim measures carried out, allowing overseas real estate investment of insurance funds, at the same time and target properties listed to invest countries and regions.As of the beginning of 2015, China’s overseas real estate investment of insurance funds to clinch a deal 4 orders, overseas real estate investment is still in its infancy, there are imperfect to the overseas real estate investment ability, investment income and investment risk problems such as insufficient understanding. To solve this problem, this article is based on the Angle of risk, the empirical overseas real estate investment of insurance investment portfolio is discussed, and the risk and return. At the same time, combine the experience of developed countries overseas real estate investment and the actual investment environment in our country, in-depth discussed the overseas real estate investment strategy of insurance funds in China, so as to prevent investment risks, and reduce the investment losses.This article first elaborated the insurance funds and concept definition, the principle of investment, the investment characteristics of real estate risk, income method and theory, to the investment of insurance funds overseas, the essay discusses the related theories of real estate. Second, domestic and overseas investment of insurance funds in China’s macro policy, the investment scope and scale, the investment status is analyzed, through the use of insurance funds in our country and the actual situation of overseas real estate investment, shows that use of insurance funds in our country the current deficiencies and overseas real estate investment advantage. Finally, combined with the actual situation in our country, using the empirical analysis results and foreign experience as a arguments, SWOT model, analysis the strategy of overseas real estate investment of insurance funds, and puts forward policy Suggestions, in order to reach the purpose of reducing risk.The author believes that the insurance money for a period of time in the future configuration of internationalization is the trend of The Times, the stability of the overseas real estate investment and longer investment cycle is suitable for the characteristics of investment of insurance funds, insurance funds into the overseas real estate market prospect is very considerable. However, earnings and risk coexist, overseas real estate investment of insurance funds there are opportunities and challenges. At present, our country should combine their own actual situation, comprehensive consider all factors, from two aspects:the government and insurance companies, mutual improvement strategy, improve the system of investment, to improve the overseas real estate investment of insurance funds, reduce investment risks, optimize the purpose of the portfolio.
