| In the past few decades, with the further study of virtue ethics, ethical study has begun to infiltrate every aspect of our daily life. Although scholars have focused on virtue increasingly, they pay more attention to virtue on individuals, organizations or the relationship between individuals and organizations with a lot of achievement acquired. This paper argues that we will ignore an important field of study: team if we limit our research to virtue in individual or organization. Team here refers to two or more individuals working together to accomplish more tasks. Under the background of knowledge economy, the team plays more and more important role in business so that recent studies have started to the study of team virtue. At the same time, with the widely application of team in the organization, there is an increasing problem on how to improve the team performance effectively. A great number of research has also begun to focus on team validity and team effectiveness which is similar to team performance and more and more scholars have focused in different perspective of leadership style, team learning, team conflict and trust to discuss ways to improve team performance. As an important part of the organizational culture, team virtue plays a significant and an irreplaceable role in improving business performance and enhancing team cohesion. However, in our existing research, scholars have not put team virtue and team performance together to discuss the mechanism between team virtue and team performance. To make up for the inadequacy of this field, this paper will use team virtue as a variable to study their influence on team performance.Firstly, combining the domestic and foreign research achievements, we analyze and define the concept and definition of team virtue, team cohesion and team performance. And then, we analyze the relationship between team virtue and team performance and conclude that there exists certain effect of team virtue on team performance. Finally, we put forward that team cohesion plays a mediating role in the relationship between team virtue and team performance.After comprehensive analysis of the team virtue’s study and respect of research achievements at home and abroad, this paper constructs the relational model among team virtue, team cohesion and team performance from the perspective of team virtue. According to the related theory, we can consider team virtue into three aspects: team transparency, integrity of team behavior, team trust and consider team cohesion into affection consistency, behavior consistency, and task consistency. According to the 295 valid questionnaires of Xi’an high-tech enterprises, this paper analyzes theoretically the effect of team virtue and team cohesion on team performance, and tests the model and hypothesis by empirical study. The empirical results show that the team virtue has partly positive effect on team cohesion and then promotes team performance. Team cohesion plays a partly intermediary role in the relationship. This study extends the research field of team performance and provides practical guidance by team virtue construction to improve team performance for the enterprises of our country in an open environment.This paper tries to solve three questions below:(1) The influence of team virtue: team transparency, integrity of team behavior, team trust on team performance.(2) The influence of team cohesion: affection consistency, behavior consistency, and task consistency on team performance.(3) The progressive relationship among team virtue, team cohesion and team performance; whether team cohesion plays a mediating role in the relationship between team virtue and team performance. |
