In recent years, petrochemical industry in China is flourish, a number of key construction projects, such as Petrochina Guangxi Petrochemical Refinery Project, Sinochem Quanzhou Project, CNOOC Huizhou Refinery Project, Petrochina Yunnan Petrochemical Project etc. were completed and successively put into operation, These projects are the symbols of the management of the petrochemical construction projects entered into a new higher level, and also mean the materials management has made great progress., but there are still some problems existed in material management.As the cost of the petrochemical project equipment and materials accounted for a higher proportion in the project investment, the procurement costs of materials have directly affected benefits of the petrochemical construction investment, and as the same time, the delivery schedule and quality of goods also directly affected the whole project progress and quality. Therefore, it is particularly important to strengthen materials management of the construction of petrochemical project. Based on research for the bidding procurement management, supplier management, contract management, and risk system of the import materials, some measures and the suggestions are proposed which focusing on how to strengthen the management of the import materials, and provide the reference for the similar projects.This paper is a case study class paper and uses literature method, survey method, case method, observation method to study the management of the import materials of M project. first of all, summarized the current situation procurement management of the import materials and the present situation of the procurement activities, then analyzed problems of procurement management of the import materials existed in the M project, finally put forward practical and feasible measures and suggestions to improve procurement management of import materials.
