Study In Kunming Difference Between Production And Sales In Tap Water Industry With DIKW Model

In information system and knowledge management literature, it is generally pointed out that to distinguish data, information, knowledge and wisdom is vital in DIKKW hierarchy. However, in the existing literature, the definitions of data, information, knowledge and wisdom are ambiguity and even conflicting, especially there are very few literature involve the definition of wisdom. This paper reviews the development of the DIKW hierarchy and its definition, while studies the descriptions of the above four words in the related literature. Based on this, this paper tries to use the DIKW hierarchy theory to study the Non Revenue Water problem in Kunming Water Supply Company. Through the analysis of the related data from 2012 to 2014, we extract the logical data, or information. According to the information in this paper, we find that the problem of Non Revenue Water in Kunming Water Supply Company mainly comes from three aspects:water meters installation, pipe network problem and water meters recording. Based on the above three information, we find out the connection between the information, for the above problems, we design the specific executable action plans. Finally, we combine this knowledge with the actual situation of the company operation management, we try to form a new system to guide next step to control problems.
