In recent years, the rapid development of urbanization and the great changes of urban land use structure make profound impacts on residents living and traffic, which result in the perpetually high intensity of carbon emission. This issue has attracted wide attentions from scholars in various fields. With the promotion of low carbon economy and low carbon city, the optimization of urban land use structure is an essential step in constructing and developing low carbon city. This paper studies the spatial distribution mode of residents carbon emission, analyzes the influences of land use on residents carbon emission, which are of positive significance to the construction of low carbon city. This thesis, focusing on the carbon emission of residents, studies the impacts of residents socio-economic attribute, community socio-economic attribute as well as land use structure on carbon emission through the construction of residents carbon emission model and spatial autocorrelation analysis model. The study is carried out on the basis of other scholars’ researches. On the other hand, this paper is committed to clarifying the influential factors of resident carbon emission, and then puting forward specific optimization strategies of land use. In accordance with the statistical analysis of 496 questionnaires conducted in Tiantai in 2014, this thesis draws three conclusions. First, by analyzing the influence of residents socio-economic attribute on carbon emission, this paper finds that the carbon emission is related with residents month income, age and level of education. Second, on the basis of researching the spatial disribution features and regularity of carbon emission in the central city of Tiantai, high carbon communities and low carbon communities are selected to compare in order to find out the factors of land use. With the method of global autocorrelation and partial autocorrelation in spatial autocorrelation theory, as well as hot spot analysis method, this thesis concludes that the improvement of land use mixedness, transportation convenience and public service facilities greatly contribute to the reduce of carbon emission. Finally, this thesis summerizes the influences of land use structure on resident carbon emission, and puts forward some significant measures to take. It also discusses the directions for future research, and provides some reference ideas on constructing low carbon city.
