The study of spatial structure is not only an important aspect of regional science but also a hard core of tourism. With the development of tourism study, the research of tourism spatial structure also has been deeper and the direction, depth and extent of this field have all expanded continually. Based on the concluding and analyzing the domestic and foreign research of tourism spatial structure, spatial autocorrelation was introduced into the study of tourism spatial structure in order to discuss the internal spatial relations of the conformation and evolvement of tourism spatial structure in Chinese Mainland.This paper collected the number and consumes of domestic and overseas tourists in every province in 1994-2006, and then calculated and analyzed them with spatial autocorrelation software, so the general laws and annual variability of Chinese Mainland tourism spatial structure were got. In order to discuss the mechanism of the tourism spatial structure, the distributions of tourism resource, famous scenery and big city were considered, and then we have gotten some conclusions:1) All of the indexes have had been not significant in spatial autocorrelation, and the annual variability was not visible. Generally, the domestic results of spatial autocorrelation were more prominent than overseas results.2) The results of local spatial autocorrelation indicated that the western provinces basically belong to "low-low" region in domestic and overseas calculations and rarely change; the "high-high" region mostly comprises eastern and southeastern provinces; the "low-high" region of domestic tourism varies the overseas tourism, but they all almost stand midland provinces near the coast provinces; Sichuan Province belongs to the "high-low" region in domestic tourism.3) The conclusions of spatial autocorrelation were laid up into the spatial distribution of tour resource, famous sceneries and big cities, and we can find that the space form of tourism development is basically congruent with those of famous sceneries and big cities, but far different from that of tour resource. Western provinces have rich tour resource but little famous sceneries and big cities, so they mostly lie in "low-low" region. Most Eastern provinces have many famous sceneries and big cities; as a result, they belong to "high-high" region.According to the calculations and analyses, relevant suggestions and countermeasures have been put forward. Different region must take different methods. The author considered that the tourism development ought to follow the guide line that based on tour resource, carried on big cities and aiming regional tourism cooperation.Finally, aiming at the problem and deficiency of this study, the author advanced the guide-line and direction in future.
