Research On China’s Impact Of Import Commodity Structural Changes On The Industrial Upgrading

Under the background of industry globalization, trade is an important driving force of economic growth, and it is an effective way for China to undertake international industrial transfer and realize the upgrading of domestic industries. The existing research shows that trade has an important role in promoting the efficiency of a country’s enterprises and economic growth. The trade forms of products or elements in the industry are closely related to the development of industrial development and international trade. The purpose of this paper is to examine the constraints and possible paths of industrial upgrading in China from the perspective of structural changes of import commodities, and to expand the research on the industrialFirstly, this paper introduces the concept and relationship of import commodity structure and industrial upgrading, and finds that domestic and foreign scholars have get a lot of research on the structure and industrial upgrading, but few documents from the perspective of import commodity structure;and then,based on comparative advantage theory and global value chain theory,carding theoretical basis of the structural changes of the imported goods and the industrial upgrading;at last, on the basis of literature review, the paper summarizes the three possible mechanisms, namely, R & D spillover effect, technology spillover effect, and competitive selection mechanism.The empirical study, based on the SITC and the international standard industry classification, the whole industry is divided into 18 industries, 7 years of panel data, labor productivity as the industrial upgrading proxy variables, measure the primary products(PP)、resource based products(RB)、low tech industrial manufactured goods(LT)、middle technical manufactured goods(MT) 、high tech manufactured products(HT) and Import commodity structure change index of changes on impact of industrial upgrading. In the regression model, the changes of primary products(PP)、low tech industrial manufactured goods(LT)、middle technical manufactured goods(MT) and high tech manufactured products(HT)were positive correlation with industrial upgrading, high tech industrial products(HT) were negative correlation with the industrial upgrading. From the industry classification sample, in different industries, the impact of different types of imported commodity structure changes on the industrial upgrading is different.Based on theoretical analysis and empirical test, this paper puts forward the relevant policy recommendations, including import high tech industrial manufactured goods;strengthen the domestic enterprises independent innovation ability, increase R & D investment, improve capital and technology intensive industries;encourage FDI, service and technology intensive industrial products, stable domestic business environment; integrate trade policy and domestic industrial development policy, reduce the system cost of transformation and upgrading;from integrate global value chain to build national value chain, and change the economic growth mode.
