On The Current Situation And Future Development Of Rice Seed Industry

Agriculture is the foundation of a country, while seeds play an important role in the field agriculture. As the opening up of seed market, a new pattern of seed industry emerges, breaking down the empire of state-owned enterprise of the era of planned economy. Different types organizations——state-owned enterprise, private company, joint venture etc. exist & compete equally in this new pattern, especially the leader companies such as DuPont、Pioneer Monsanto、Syngenta take part in the market. As leading enterprises in china, seed companies of Jiangsu develop rapidly, and keep its market share and sales in top ten. But at the same time, it faces challenges from its competitors such as Henan, Anhui seed companies. In addition, because of the weather condition conventional seed take 90% market, while profit is only 60%. So it is necessary to adjust the structure of the seed product.Start with a review the course of development of rice seed industry in Jiangsu Province, in accordance with the industrial chain to explore, this paper analyzed its current situation and existing problems and studied the composition of each industry chain, the role of the characteristics, the main management status quo and its main influencing factors. The Rice seed industry chain is interrelated by three industrial chains:breeding, seed production and seed operators. This study is primarily based on the perspective of industry chain, through a combination of the actual situation of Jiangsu Mingtian seed industry technology co., LTD., made a systematic analysis of its characteristics, operation and its main influence factors of the main status quo of each the role of industrial chain composition.On the basis of above analysis, this paper put forward that the development strategy of seed industry in Jiangsu province should be based on the reform, mainly including three parts. First, encourage and support rice seed enterprises to reform and develop towards group and chain by means of combination and reorganization and then build the pyramid style of organization structure rapidly in Jiangsu province. Second, reform the state-owned breeding institute and change the present situation that the state-owned and social capital enterprises carry on the scientific research at the same time and then take the seed enterprises as the main scientific research institutes to establish the regional commercial breeding organizations. Third, realize the market reform of government behavior completely and reform the legal system that restrained the marketability development of seed industry to display fully the function of seed enterprise as the main body. The government should provide service and a good economic and market environment for the development of seed industry.
