Man creates city, whereas city, as the result of the development of productivity, brings about numerous creativities and fortunes to human beings. Owning to the development of modern transportation, prosperous business and elite educational resources, city has become the place to convert commodity, human resources and funds, which gives impetus to the development of productivity and the communication of science & culture, making city be the symbol of modern civilization. However, the expand of city also brings about severe city illness, causing a series of problems including traffic jam, environment pollution, educational & medical problems, resource consumption, delicate city system and information island, all of which urge the city manager to explore the solution. Hence, "smart city", as an inevitable demand for the development from informationization to higher intelligence, has become the best cure for city illness.Smart city, undoubtedly, has provided a cure for the world to treat city illness. Hefei, as the capital city of Anhui province for national urban pilot wisdom, in the midst of a smart city create mode, has a series of problems including how to draw lessons from the domestic and foreign experience, and how to use their own advantages to create a wisdom with the characteristic of Hefei. This requires Hefei to constantly improve the infrastructure construction and guarantee the development of the city wisdom; Develop intelligence industry and drive the wisdom urban construction pace; Constantly improve the system of talents and develop innovation ability.By means of literature analysis, Data analysis, case study and the combination of theory with practice were also mainly used to collect and organize the material and data. The text summarized the foundation, current situation, solutions and results on the construction of smart city in Hefei, as well as problems and causes on the way of construction. As a result, feasible suggestions were proposed on the existing problems with great hope to assist the practice of smart city in Hefei.The text contains six parts, with contents as follows. In the introduction part, the text introduced five aspects, including research background & significance, a literature review, main research content and frame, research idea & method, and creativity & deficiency. The second part organized relevant concepts and theoretical foundation of smart city. The theoretical foundation consists of the definition of smart, city, smart city, features of smart city, and construction of smart city. The current situation of Hefei’s construction of smart city were put forward on the third part with analysis of the basis of construction, current condition, solutions and results. The fourth part cited typical smart city constructions in several domestic and international cities, in the aim of bringing out enlightenment to the construction of smart city in Hefei. The fifth part paid attention to the analysis of existing problems and solutions on the way constructing smart city in Hefei. Finally, the text proposed several feasible suggestions on the existing problems in Hefei, especially on the field of infrastructure, science & technology, and talents.
