In recent years, Chinese companies frequently enter the international market, with the ever-growing economic influence and exhibiting a development pattern different from the Uppsala model. They tend to develop abroad in faster speed, wider range of area with lager cultural distance from China’s cultural system (including more developed countries) and irregular expansion process (with one year’s blowout of expansion, then subsiding for a long time). What is the relationship between these phenomena and enterprises’ performance? What characteristics enable Chinese enterprises to achieve greater efficiency in the process of internationalization? How to get accessed to greater technical knowledge management skills? These are important issues that make many entrepreneurs and practitioners plagued.Starting from the dual perspective of process and the specific context, this paper included the study of the relationship between characteristics of the internationalization process and performance of Chinese companies under special situation. This article selected 203 Chinese of listed companies from 2009 to 2013 to form the balance panel data. The empirical test was conducted between the internationalization speed, scope, rhythm and influence on enterprise performance, where the government’s participation and the added cultural distance moderate the relationship. The current cutting-edge field of international business management, added distance, was used to measure the scope and the rhythm of the internationalization. This construct characterized the complexity of the environment encountered with the enterprises when they decided to enter a new country. In this paper, we also integrated the concept of government involvement to fully illustrate the special situation that the Chinese enterprises made their international move. At the same time, this article has deepened the research of Chinese enterprise internationalization strategy’s influence on performance from the dynamic perspective. Reasons have been given on how Chinese enterprises being able to achieve current international status, and guidance been provided on internationalization strategy implementation for the Chinese enterprise in the future. From a dynamic perspective, a new method was developed to evaluate how Chinese enterprises perform in the internationalization process. Strategic guidance was provided, to balance the resource both inside and outside of the enterprise, to enable Chinese companies to get access to overseas capital, technology, management skills and so on. This paper will also encourage companies to seize market opportunities so as to promote the further development of the parent enterprise. In this sense, Chinese companies can achieve higher quality internationalization, enhancing the overall strength of the international development of Chinese enterprises.
