Interdependency Between China And South Korea And Agreement Of China-South Korea FTA

There are two main questions to solve through this study. First one is analyzing the theory of interdependence phenomenon; and the second one is which factor has influenced the China-Korea Free Trade Agreement (FTA) under the security condition of Korea and the United States. Researching on these two questions, this study has detected that the conclusion of China-Korea FTA is the result of complex interdependence of political and economical factors, and consequentially this has important implications on the theory of interdependence. Although there are numerical researches about the China-Korea FTA comparatively, complex studies seem to be lacking on the China-Korea FTA, which is based on the theory of interdependence. On this context, the perspective of this study could give the significant meaning and propose a new point of view for the researches on the China-Korea FTA.How could South Korea conclude FTA with China under the condition that Korea is highly dependent on the United States, including military security and political matters? According to the interdependence theoretical scholars, trade is closely connected with international security. Growth of international trade has significantly positive influence on international security issues. With this point of view, the aim of the study is analyzing how the China-Korea FTA has been concluded. First of all, this paper explained the concept of theory of interdependence; and after that, this delineated change process of the theory and comparative analysis on the features of perspectives about realism and theory of interdependence. Also, this study figured out China-Korea relationship with American factors in Korea and important factors which influence international position change of Korea by improvement of China-Korea relationship. Through this process, Korea keeps its intimate relationship with China under the circumstance of tension between China and the United States and check of the United States. In addition, by researching on internal and external environmental conditions which create interdependence, this study has revealed that economic interdependence of China-Korea can lead the success of China-Korea FTA; even though there are security collision factors during the transition period of China-Korea relation improvement. In the last section, this paper investigated the current statement of China-Korea relation, success of China-Korea FTA, and necessity, implication, and influence of China-Korea FTA. On the conclusion, this study anticipated direction and expectation of Korea’s future diplomacy through the China-Korea FTA.
