| Lacking creation ability in the international competition, China’s appliance manufacturing industry is always in the bottom position in the global home appliance value chain. Therefore, China needs to upgrade the whole industry chain while investing more money for technological innovation. Moreover, to achieve the strategic goal of Made in China 2025, China must improve its innovative efficiency of appliance manufacturing companies.This dissertation, firstly, concludes the findings of the research about the upgrade of China’s appliance manufacturing industry and the innovative efficiency of appliance manufacturing companies. It recalls past five upgrade of appliance manufacturing companies and its technological innovation level in today’s domestic market. Then, by analyzing the current situation of appliance manufacturing companies, it concludes the common features of this industry to make an assessment system for innovative efficiency in the transformation period. Meanwhile, it points out the influential factors affecting the innovative efficiency of appliance manufacturing companies.Based on the non parametric method of DEA model, this dissertation makes a horizontal comparison among 18 home appliance manufacturing enterprises in the period of 2010-2014 from the static aspect. From a dynamic point of view, it also uses Malmquist’s DEA index method to make a comprehensive evaluation of these enterprises during the period of 2010 and 2014 about ways of their technological innovation to finds out the the influential factors and their trend of the technological improvement. Through case studies, it proposes the solution to the problems faced by China’s appliance manufacturing industry in the process of innovation.The findings indicate that:Firstly, China’s appliance manufacturing industry witness a continuous decline in their technological improvement and Invalid scale efficiency, especially in the period of 2010-2014 when the innovative efficiency of China’s appliance manufacturing industry was in a low level. Secondly, in the process of transformation and upgrading, China invested excessive money in researches,staffs and fixed assets, especially in staffs. Thirdly, the total factor productivity of China’s appliance manufacturing industry reduced generally between 2010 and 2014, except between 2013 and 2014 when it increased by 3.1% annually. Especially between 2011 and 2012, it declined most by 21.7%, which was the result of the fact that though the pure technical efficiency increased, the innovative efficiency still reduced by 12.9%. Fourthly, the period between 2010 and 2014 saw the reform and innovation of China’s appliance manufacturing industry, during which its more technological improvement leads to higher innovative efficiency,that is to say, technological improvement of a company is key to promoting its innovative efficiency. |
