Along with the adjustment of the national development policy, the external environment of the rural tourism development has been changing constantly.How to fully understand and solve the problem of rural tourism development and promoting the transformation and upgrading of rural tourism has become a major issue in the study of rural tourism development in the new era.Research at home and abroad pay great attention to rural tourism.Meanwhile,due to the differences between foreign and domestic development path of rural tourism, the transformation and upgrade issues have become the bottleneck of domestic rural tourism development.In recent years,the suburban areas of Kunming,where tourism is booming,has become the preferred tourist spot during weekend and golden week. Rural tourism in Xishan District emerges under this background-However, with the change of people’s demand for rural tourism products, the model of traditional rural tourism development can not meet the needs of tourists.Rural tourism development needs to be upgraded.The paper is based on the related literatures and studies the current situation of the development of rural tourism in Xishan District.The paper provides a in-depth analysis of the related system and management of rural tourism in Xishan District and the problems in the areas such as the construction of infrastructure and facilities, brand and marketing and industrial development. The paper learns the successful experience from the development of domestic and foreign rural tourism.By putting the transformation and upgrade of rural tourism into the background of the urban and rural development,the author puts forward suggestions which is in line with the situation,from the aspects such as improving the rural tourism management system and tourism development condition,enriching the tourism products system and strengthening ecological and environmental protection.The suggestions are about promoting the transformation and upgrading of rural tourism in Xishan District.
