In the current transition period of the food consumption patterns, consumer attitudes and livestock consumption of urban residents is gradually changed. It has been developed from the past that a single, only the pursuit of growth in the number towards the diversification, nutrition and healthy demand for livestock direction. Hohhot plays an important role in livestock production and consumption, as the capital of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. But the study on Hohhot consumption of animal products is mainly meat, milk, there is little overall research of livestock. By studying Hohhot situation of urban residents consumption of animal products, consumer behavior and the impact of consumer factors, It is for the adjustment of animal husbandry production structure and guide residents consumption of animal products has important practical significance.In this paper, consumer economic theory and methods are the basis of this article.. Firstly, the qualitative analysis of Hohhot’s livestock consumption level of urban residents have a general understanding; Then describes the factors affecting the cost of livestock products, Select representative factors study done using principal component analysis, Get the price factor and income factors are more significant factor in explaining animal products, which, income, prices, urbanization, food and beverage industry and the level of the Engel coefficient affects livestock consumption in varying degrees; For income, use the "extended linear expenditure" model made empirical analysis, The results showed that:(1) income more significant impact for urban consumption of animal products, (2) have a lower marginal propensity to consume animal products, indicating the current consumption expenditure of urban residents for more development-oriented and enjoyment-centric consumption; (3) various types of livestock needs for their own price sensitivity is higher than the Mutual price. Draw conclusions from the above and put forward suggestions to promote the consumption of animal products.
