EPC(Engineering, Procurement and Construction)project management mode has been developed for many years, and widely applied in the field of electric power project. In power engineering, material procurement is shouldering important responsibility with providing qualified materials, auxiliary materials for power production, technological transformation and infrastructure construction, and the price is the key to cost control, which risk is one of the most important aspects of the overall risk of the whole project.In this paper, based on the characteristics and current situation of EPC mode in electric power project, focusing on purchasing materials, we analyze the existing price risk and study the price risk management.Firstly, this paper analyzes the EPC contract mode and the present situation of the procurement activities under this mode in current power project, points out issues of our country electric power project general contracting domestic is relatively small at present, mainly small and medium-sized projects, low level of risk management, and risk factors have greater impact on cost, schedule control. Then based on the theory of risk management, identify, assess and response for the price risk of materials. Secondly, based on the theory of risk management, in the process of recognition, this paper finds out nine factors which have influence on material price, that are contract, owner, rent seeking, logistics, supply and demand, economic and financial environment, raw materials, technology and natural force majeure. The nine factors can be further refined into seventeen specific risk points, which basically covers the sources of risk on material prices. Then, risk evaluation index system of material purchasing price is established according to the identified risk factors, using the fuzzy analytic hierarchy process to analyze its assessment, aims at the key risk factors, and puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions for risk factors. Finally, according to three EPC projects of electricity transmission & transformation facilities in one province, carries on the empirical analysis on the research of this article, proves evaluation index system this paper constructed, and scientific nature, applicability and operability of adopted evaluation method, and puts forward some suggestions for similar projects in risk management of material purchasing price. The research results of this paper will provide reference to controlling material price, and reducing project total risk in EPC mode of power engineering project.This paper in the light of material price risk with paid less attention in material procurement, constructs the evaluation index system, carries on the analysis and evaluation, finds out the coping methods, and the research results will provide reference for reducing total risk in project under EPC mode in power engineering project.
