With the rapid development of science and technology, the social life, national politics, the economy and the culture has also taken significant changes. Some theory in the traditional single field has been unable to guide the new practice. The new complex issues that appear in people’s social practice can’t be resolved by relying on the knowledge, theories and tools in a single field. Transdisciplinary research of emerging technologies appears on the scene. Evaluating transdisciplinary research of emerging technologies has important theoretical and practical significance. Transdisciplinary research can not only solve the problem of concept definition, but also the measure of the degree of transdisciplinary research. This is because of that both developing funding policy of transdisciplinary research and selecting transdisciplinary projects are based on evaluation.Based on subject categories of literature data, this paper has described the evaluation of transdisciplinary research of emerging technologies. This paper proposes methods of evaluating transdisciplinary research of a single technology. Combined with the features of variety, balance, disparity and coherence, This paper evaluates the technology is transdisciplinary research or not, and the degree of transdisciplinary research, field distribution, the process of transdisciplinary research. In order to facilitate the evaluation of a single technology, this paper completes the maximum standardization of the coherence indicator.First, This paper analyzes the foundation of evaluation of transdisciplinary research of emerging technologies, including its research characteristics, research conditions, processes and results, etc. Second, This paper has drawn on existing research results of that transdisciplinary research has the features of variety, balance, disparity and coherence. With integration covering variety, balance and disparity, and retaining consistency, We Proposed to use integration and coherence to evaluate the degree of transdisciplinary research of emerging technologies. The integration index is calculated by the literature citation method and Journal C itation method. The coherence index is calculated by the co-citation analysis and social network analysis. The evaluation results is divided into four quadrants. Finally, We use a case study in 3D printing technology to describe the proposed steps, demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of the method and put forward some recommendations for the development of 3D printing technology in our country.
