This paper attempt to discuss the problems of popularizing agricultural techniques in the urbanization of Lianzhou district in Wuwei city where is a typical arid and semiarid region in northwest of China and strategies to such problems.This paper presents the current situations, developments and problems of the urbanization of Liangzhou district in Wuwei city by researching the flow of population, land and capital in the process of urbanization,by discussing the four transformations of production mix, employment, pattern of consumption and residential styles all caused by spacial distribution and flow of primary elements, and so clarifies that popularization of agricultural techniques is the bond that connects agricultural research and agricultural production, and is also connected with population, land and fund.The quality of urbanization is not good enough by analyzing the critical stage of current fast speed urbanization. The speed of land use is faster than the speed of population absorption.
