Along with global economic development and social changes, the enterprise should make use of their external resources to enhance market competitiveness in order to keep development and sustainable competitiveness in the increasingly competitive environment. As the material supplier of enterprise, the supplier is one of the most importantly external resources, so the supplier management level may obviously affect the performance of enterprises. Establishing a reasonable supplier performance evaluation system not only can improve the unreasonable situation of the supplier management, but also can motivate supplier to improve its service level and activate supplier enthusiasm of cooperation, as well as make enterprise more competitive.This thesis uses relevant theory and methods to discuss the existing problems in the current supplier performance appraisal system through analyzing history of supplier management, performance appraisal standard and current situation of supplier performance appraisal in Shengpai company. As the result, the paper proposed a new optimization idea to set up a new system of supplier performance appraisal system, which includes the following parts.First, after improving and optimizing organization structure of the supplier performance, we clarify the performance appraisal team’s responsibilities and adjust the processes of original organization.Second, according to company business features, this paper sets up new supplier introduction strategy, realizes ABC classification on the existing suppliers and makes management measures of different levels.Third, the paper reestablishes a more reasonable performance assessment index to be closest to the company’s requirement. Comparing the total goal with the difficulty level of operating data of the last year in the company, the weight of index is determined. The Secondary index weight is determined by the analytic hierarchy process(AHP).Fourth, this paper makes corresponding evaluation rules, according to the performance management of different periods—monthly, quarterly and annual. We inspire well-performed suppliers, exit or degrade poor-performed suppliers.Finally, we discuss relevant implementation process, implementation planning implementation difficulties and related solutions, which are guarantee to maintain healthy operation of this performance appraisal system. As well as to verify the implementation effect of new system, we select supplier Hongda company as example to analysis the implementation effect.This paper puts forward a new performance appraisal system to suppliers, which motivates effectively the suppliers’ enthusiasm, enhances the competitive relationship among suppliers and improves product quality and efficiency of the company operation.
