Process approach is one of the seven quality management principles and the core element of automotive industrial quality management system, emphasizing the organization form of company to replace the original “function guidance” with “process guidance”, providing the completely new approach for the company management. Along with the release and implementation of Guidance on the Conception and Use of the Process Approach for Management System and ISO/TS16949:2009 Technical Specification(Quality Management System – Particular Requirements for the Application of ISO9001:2008 for Automotive Production and Service Part Organizations), it is strong support to process approach effective application in auto companies and also important element to company performance improvement and related risk control.As the upmoving of customer expectation to quality, while the infant stage for the application of process approach, multiple problems always beset the company even after process approach have been applied, such as visible department barricade, low process effectiveness and efficiency, and no obvious improvement of system performance, it has already become a stumbling block of further development and better profit in company.This paper is based on WEIXING Co., a typical automotive component production factory.Through detail/deep survey of process approach application in quality management system, and analysis the performance level of their process, we can sum up the problems behind the application of process approach, and related factors impacting to effectiveness of WEIXING Co.process approach application. For these problems, we bring the appropriated process approach application mode for WEIXING Co. to control the process performance and continuous improve the process base on the quality management system standard, process approach principles, Juran Trilogy, PDCA etc. related theory and the integration method of theory/demonstration and qualitative/quantitative. At the end, through a series of improvement proposal and safeguard measures such as identify processes with “octopus map” and quality management system standard, solve the process structure with “tortoise map” and “SIPOC chart”, describe the process and control risk with “process identify card”, evaluate the process’ effectiveness and efficiency with “process performance”, improve the process with PDCA; use process approach audit, optimize ERP based on process approach and organizational performance,etc. we make the process approach of WEIXING Co. quality management system to operate more effectively,improve the performance and standardization of process, increase the comprehensive competitive power of their company.Through the investigation of WEIXING Co.’ process approach, it showed that we can help the company to improve the benefit of company under the process approach with the related tool to solved process identify/process integration/process action control/risk control etc., and also it can help the company to utilize the related resource well under the effective plan. For WEIXING Co., this paper is not only a guidance to their quality management operation system, but also its approach/method/result will be reference to quality management system improvement of other companies.
