Research On The Relationship Between Human Capital And Economic Growth In Xinjiang

The historians and economists from all over the world study on the national economic growth, Their study have shown that human capital is an important factor for social economic growth, and in the current macro-economic background of economic globalization and knowledge economy era, the important role of human capital on economic growth will be more profound; as the largest developing country in the world, human capital is also an important factor to promote the growth of our economy, therefore, study on the human capital to promote the economic development of our country also has a very important role. Since the reform and opening up, with the high-speed development of economy in our country, there have been regional imbalance of economic development, this phenomenon is particularly evident in the eastern and western provinces, Xinjiang as a western provinces, also has obtained the remarkable economic development in recent years, but its economic development is still obviously lag behind the eastern provinces, so the research on the relationship between human capital and economic growth in Xinjiang can provide better policy recommendations for the future economic development of Xinjiang while effectively narrow the gap between China’s regional economy.This paper first to summarized the research significance, background, content and research methods; next, made a more comprehensive review of the formation and development of human capital theory and the economic growth model based on human capital theory,and introduced the current research results of the relationship between human capital and economic growth from two aspects of domestic and abroad; then, introduced the present situation of Xinjiang economic development and human capital; then, based on the combination of theory and practice, established the econometric model of the relation between human capital and economic growth in Xinjiang, and using stata12.1 software to analyze the time series data of per capita GDP, the stock of physical capital per worker, average schooling years from 1978 to2013 in Xinjiang, research shows that there existed a long-term equilibrium of human capital and economic growth in Xinjiang, human capital have a significant role in promoting the economic growth in Xinjiang, then estimated the contribution rate of human capital and the contribution rate of material capital to economic growth in Xinjiang. It is concluded that the contribution rate of human capital on economic growth in Xinjiang was low, and then analyzed its causes. Finally, somecountermeasures and suggestions are given to promote the economic growth in Xinjiang, and achieve the ultimate goal of changing growth mode in Xinjiang, like increasing human capital investment in Xinjiang, Optimizing the allocation of educational resources in college and the industrial structure of human capital in Xinjiang.
