The failure of rockmass is a common geologic disaster, which is harmful to humanbeings. And the scope of affected area is very large. As the main cause for rock instability, seepage has been a key issue in the research field of rock engineering.Within the rockmass, due to geological reasons, distribution of fractures is relatively complex and the heterogeneity is obvious. Therefore, discontinuous analysis method is more suitable in simulating the fracture network of rockmass.Discontinuous Deformation Analysis(DDA)method, based on the theory of discontinuous analysis,is often adopted in the study of fracture seepage. The main research work in this paper is listed as follows:(1)A new method was proposed in searching the fracture network automatically, which is aimed at improving the shortcomings of the current DDA program in this aspect.Accurate results of the geometric parameters and hydraulic parameters of the fracture system were given by this method.(2)Based on the present DDA program, the fracture network was constructed and the seepage calculation module is developed.Comparing the results of (?)LL(?)S experiments with them of the simulating model, the accuracy of seepage calculation module was verified. The conclusions can be given as follows:(1)The searching results of the fracture network shows that the method presented in this paper is reliable and accurate;(2)The expanded seepage calculation module is of accuracy in simulating the seepage state of rockmass. And the error of the simulation is acceptable in the practice;(3)Neglection of the effects of the dynamic water pressure on the waterhead distribution within an intersection is one of the main causes of the simulation error. The research results of this paper contribute greatly to calculate and evaluate the seepage characteristics of rockmass, which is really important to the design and construction of rock engineering,as well as early warning and prevention measures for landslides.
