With the rapid development of economy and the improvement of quality of life?the time people stay in indoor environment is getting much longer, and more andmore skin and body care products came into people's life, we can see the settled dustand Personal Care Products (PCPs) everywhere, and the contact frequency betweenhuman and them is very high, therefore, to study the concentration and exposurelevel of PAEs in the settled dust and PCPs is of great importance for the evaluationof the risk of human health. This study had colleted76settled dust samples from4cities (Harbin, Qingdao,Baoding, and Shenyang) and they were classified into3kinds of indoor environment(home, dormitory, and public), at the same time,101common PCPs samples werecollected. The extraction was performed by solid-liquid extraction and liquid-liquidextration for dust and PCPs, respectively. and the extractions were concentrated byblow the solvent with the gentle nitrogen gas flow, then GC-MS was used to detectthe concentration of7kinds of PAEs (DMP, DEP, DBP, DiBP, BBP, DEHP, andDnOP). All7kinds of PAEs were found in76dust, the concentration range of totalPAEs were23.9~145000?g/g, among the7compounds, DBP, DEHP and DiBP werethe main kinds, and their detection frequancy was100%, their concentrations weremuch higher than the rest4kinds, especially, DEHP had the highest concentration. The concentration order of3kinds of indoor environment was: home> dormitory>public. With the analysis of SPSS, we found that the concentration of PAEs insettled dust had no significant correlations with temperature, floor number, theaverage age of members in the family, area, population of families, and the percapita area of indoor environment. For101PCPs samples, the detection frequancyof total PAEs was88%, the range of its concentration was <LOD~231?g/g. DEPwas the main found conpound with a detection frequancy of64%, and itsconcentration was much higher than others. Comparing with PCPs for man, PCPsfor woman had a higher detection frequancy but lower concentrations. PCPs used bycollege students had a higher concentration than by group of working people. Theconcentration of total PAEs and DEP had a trend that it fell down with the age of thePCPs user. Comparing the daily intake (DI) of total PAEs in dust for each age group,we found that the DI order was: child> toddler> teenager> infant> adult, and themainly detected conpounds were DEHP, DiBP, and DBP, respectively. For adults, DIfrom the dust for woman was higher than man, DI order of different indoorenvironment was: home> dormitory> public, and DI for students was higher than working people. Between the5inspected kinds of PCPs, body and hand lotion hadthe highest DI, their total DI could take99.5%of the total PCPs DI. The total DIthrough contacting with settled dust and all the PCPs inspected in our study was5.00?g/(kg·day), and it was far lower than the TDI value of DEHP (50?g/(kg·day)),but the PAEs exposure of minors was all higher than their TDI values.
