My dissertation consists of two parts.The study on synthesis of2-isopropyl naphthalene catalyzed by Et3NHCl-AlCl3ionic liquids is the first part. As a green catalyst, ionic liquids show many excellentcharacteristics in the catalytic alkylation reaction due to their special physical andchemical properties.2-Isopropyl naphthalene is an important raw material in chemicalindustry and it is one the most important starting chemical material.In this paper,2-isopropyl naphthalene has been synthesized by the reaction of naphthalene and2-bromine propane, using triethylamine hydrochloride-aluminum chloride ionic liquidas catalyst. The effect of the proportion of catalyst itself, the reaction time, thereaction temperature, the ionic liquid dosage as well as the molar ratio of the reagentson the yield of the2-isopropyl naphthalene was investigated. Under the optimalreaction conditions, the conversion of2-bromine propane is98%and the selectivity of2-isopropyl naphthalene is80%, the recyclability of the ionic liquid is alsoinvestigated.The second part is about the synthesis of UV absorber UV-0. UV-0is animportant diphenyl ketone UV absorber and it has wide range of applications inproduction and life. In this paper, UV-0has been synthesized by the reaction oftrichlorotoluene and resorcinol, using Lucas reagent as catalyst. The effect of thereaction time, the reaction temperature, the catalyst dosage as well as the molar ratioof the reagents on the yield of the UV-0was systematically investigated. Under theoptimal reaction conditions, the yield of UV-0is95%.
