Traditional water absorption and retention materials, based on super absorbent resin(SAR), are provided with high speed of absorption, excellent retention and salt tolerance. The SAR have shown the potential in agriculture, gardening, reclamation of desert areas, construction industry. Beyond those use above, the SAR have found applications in pharmaceutical dosage and personal care products. However, the poor biodegradable performance mechanical property of SAR limit its development partly.The super absorbent resin prepared by natural polymer modified simultaneously with excellent water absorption and degradation performance, have become the research topic of the industry.Natural polymer SAR based on microwave initiation polymerization were prepared by sodium alginate(SA), starch(ST), acrylic acid(AA) system; and xanthan gum(XG), acrylamide(AA), acrylic acid(AA) system. The results of the best ratio of monomer are as follow. The best ratio of SA content is 5%, cross linking agent content is 0.8%, while the initiator content is 0.45%. The best ratio of XG content is3%, cross linking agent content is 1.5%, while the initiator content is 0.8%. Study on water absorption and biodegradation shows that, both of these two types of SAR have well absorbency and biodegradability properties.WSR was prepared using the nitrile rubber(NR) and self-made salt-resistant super absorbent resin(SAR) as the raw materials by the way of physical mix. The influence of the amount of WCB and CB on the properties of WSR was investigated by means of orthogonal array testing. The results showed that the amount of WCB and CB had a significant impact on the WSR's absorption and mechanical properties.The water absorption of WSR increased with increasing of the amount of WCB and decreasing of the amount of CB. The tensile strength and hardness of WSR increased with increasing of the amount of WCB and CB, but elongation at break decreased.The addition of WPU improved the compatibility of WSR between SAR and rubber,reduced the mass loss rate of the WSR, and improved the expansion rate of WSR. The SEM analyzed that WPU improved the dispersibility of the filler in the rubber, so that the system got better compatibility.
