In this paper,siliconizing on copper with the method of powder pack comentation, which use gangue and Al as the main penetration agent.Analysing the microstructure and organization of siliconizing layer by metallographic microscope,XRD and EDS.The hardness,corrosion resistance,oxidation resistance at the high temperature,abrasive wear resistance and erosion wear resistance of siliconizing layer are also tested.The result of XRD indicates that Cu9Si,Cu0.83Si0.17,Cu4Si and Cu3Al are produced in layer, which is made up with (?+?2) and ? phase.The thickness of layer is more than 600?m and it combines with matrix closely Siliconizing by gangue can improve the hardness of copper,which rockwell hardness is HRF118,but copper is only HRF51.5. And the microhardness of layer is Hv322.6,but copper in the centre is only Hv68.In the test of corrosion resistance,acid resistance, salty resistance and seawater resistance of siliconizing layer increase by 2.25 times,2.58 times and 2.97 times respectively,which compared with the copper matrix.The oxidation resistance of layer can increase by 9.36 times at high temperature,and its abrasive wear resistance can increase by 3.68 times.In the test of erosion wear resistance,when the concentration of water and sand is 5000:1600,5000:2800 and 5000:4000,which use the tap water as fluid medium,its erosion wear resistance increase by 2.65 times,2.78 times and 3.39 times respectively.When the concentration of water and sand is 5000:2800,the speed is 200r/min,300r/min and 400r/min,its erosion wear resistance increase by 3.24 times,2.78 times and 3.02 times. When the concentration of water and sand is 5000:2800,the speed is 200r/min,300r/min and 400r/min,which use the seawater as fluid medium,its erosion wear resistance increase by 2.62 times,2.08 times and 2.10 times.The erosion wear resistance of siliconi-zing layer in seawater is more serious than that in tap water.It is feasible to make siliconizing layer by gangue,which can improve the performance of copper at some extent.And it is valuable to have further study.
