The adsorption of coal directly related to the combustion and spontaneous combustion of coal, gases storage and coalbed methane production. It has done a lot of research on single-component gas adsorption characteristics on coal, with the isothermal adsorption experiment of coal, but the gas adsorption on coal is still very rare at normal temperature and pressure. In order to simulate accurately coal reservoir conditions, this thesis designed the experimental program on adsorption of coal to gases at normal temperature and pressure, and then conducting an experiment on adsorption of large sample volume Tashan, Tongxin and Gaohai mining coal samples to N2 and CO2 by using homemade adsorption cylinder and SP-3400 gas chromatograph, according to ideal gas state equation to calculate adsorption capacity of the different coal samples to two kinds of gas under different adsorption equilibrium time. The experimental results show that adsorption quantity of each coal sample to CO2 is far greater than the N2, but the difference is not large of each sample adsorbing the same gas, although adsorption quantity is different. Finally, adsorption quantity of N2 and CO2 were calculated respectively on It Tashan, Tongxin and Gaohai residual coal according to the experimental results, and then discusses the feasibility on fire prevention in goaf instead of nitrogen injection by using power plant flue gas and a viable storage of CO2.
