In China, knitting and wool industry is the mainstay of the national economy, and plays a vital role for China's economic construction and development. Knitting machine makes computer, SOC, bus- communications and mechanical industry as an entirety. Knitting machine equipment is a high-tech textile machinery in the knitting industry. Knitting machine develop from hand-knitting machine, semi-automatic flat knitting machine to the automatic computerized flat knitting machine.Firstly, this paper analyzes the Chinese and foreign development background of knitting machine, summed up the advantages of foreign knitting machine and points out the shortcomings of the domestic knitting machine development. Secondly, this paper introduces the knitting machine control requirements and control requirements in accordance with the overall proposed design scheme of the system and complete the selection of each module main controller chip and co-processor. Thirdly, this paper designs the knitting machine's hardware and software. Finally, this paper summarizes the research works, looks ahead the future of the knitting machine and plans the future works.This design uses a modular platform to achieve cross-machine control system. The program is divided into the display module, main control module, body control modules, four modules hand piece control module. The main control module as the core of the system, by analyzing the pattern information becomes control information sent to the fuselage and nose control module. Fuselage and nose control module based on the control information of the main control module to send control commands to drive an actuator, to complete the action. Display module complete HMI display to communicate the machine and user.The main control chip in main control module using the STM32F429IGT6 based on ARM Cortex-M4 core. The chip integrated LCD controller, speeds up 180 MHZ, the entire system can be very good as the main processor. In the system, use the em Win graphics library to make human-machine interface. The each module's coprocessor use the FPGA.The paper details the AC servo motors, stepper motors, solenoids, selector control of the FPGA.
