Establishing the information sharing of machine tool product design and manufacturing process based on distributed or heterogeneous network environment is the foundation of the global research and development coordination. Low-cost and high-quality customized product manufactured within the shortest possible time is the core competitive advantage of Shenyang Machine Tool Cooperation. Therefore, the paper introduces collaborative design into machine tool products' design and manufacture, and researches the distributed collaborative design facing to research and development of machine tool products.The paper begins with the characteristics of machine tool's collaborative design, analyzing the inexorable trend of the distributed collaborative design in the area of machine tool industry. Specific development processes of the distributed collaborative design are researched. Layered structure facing to machine tool distributed collaborative design system is presented.The paper mainly researches project management system and product data management system of machine tool distributed collaborative design. The project management system mainly consists of both project plan & execution and project task allocation & management.In the part of project plan and execution, researches on the schematization of project plan, processes of project execution and coordination, report of the project progress, as well as principles and methods of project coordination are presented. Resolved structure of project task, which consists of design of project task resolved structure diagram and schematization of task resolved process, is deeply analyzed. Allocate task and ascertain responsibilities in the institutional framework according to the resolved structure diagram of project task to form responsibility diagram.In the part of project task allocation and management, allocating method of collaborative task, which consists of task resolution, recombination and allocation, is mainly researched. The purpose of the task resolution is to establish structural matrix of task according to the structure and function of machine tool. Task is recombined by means of fuzzily sorting algorithm, creating a new task set with high correlation, obtaining serial and parallel relations among subtasks, and forming task tree eventually. Based on the work in the task resolution, task allocation is executed. Different tasks are allocated to different groups according to comprehensive ability of collaborative workers, emergency degree of tasks, busy degree of collaborative workers, interests of collaborative workers and so on. Allocating method of collaborative workers is presented. Time allocated method of collaborative task is presented according to the parallelism and correlation of collaborative tasks, and take the development cycle of a numerical control machine tool as a controlled object to verify the theory mentioned above.In the part of product data management, methods of collaborative design based on Pro/INTRALINK software platform are analyzed. Methods of data check-in & check-out, version transformation and priority allocation are researched, and suggestions on the product data management of collaborative design in Shenyang Machine Tool Group are presented.The collaborative design task schematization of machine tool presented in the paper shortens the development cycle of machine tool products, and the software platform based on the Pro/INTRALINK realizes product data's safe and easy management.
