In order to ease the contradiction between supply and demand of China's iron ore and to develop reasonably the limonite that it is low grade and difficult to separate,the author of the paper has studied the experiment on the floation of limonite in Xinjiang.The flowsheet mineralogy theory of crude ore from that mine and the following chemical analysis of the sample are used for the study.It is revealed that content of TFe is 33.29% in the sample and Fe mainly exists in the limonite with its distribution rate of 93.75%.The content of Al and Si are both very high in the sample and that of SiO2 is 34.18%.The sample also contains gangue mineral of kaolinite,quartz and small amounts of mica.Then the particle size of crushed limonite sample is analyzed for size fraction.Analysis results indicate that no size fraction falls into a narrow range. The author of the paper conducts grinding experiment for the crushed limonite in Xinjiang, and then the author of the paper conducts screening test for the grinded limonite in Xinjiang and analyzes the nature of the limonite with different particle size.On the basis of the above experiment results, three size ranges are defined for separation of material of grinded sample:+0.2mm,0.038-0.2mm and-0.038mm.In this paper,it is separately discussed the quality of floation flowsheet of limonite sample under the conditions of eunatrol system and laurylamine system and finally the sodium carboxymethyl starch is choosed as inhibitant for the floation of grinded sample material with size range of +0.2mm and 0.038-0.2mm under the condition of laurylamine system,calgon as inhibitant for the floation of material with size range of-0.038mm under condition of eunatrol system.Through the test of choosing process, we ultimately determined the floation process of one step of crude selection and two steps of refined selection, and we can produce the limonite concentrate with experimental grade of 60.86% and recovery of 66.73%.Through the study of mechanism of inhibition produced on limonite by starch,it can be concluded that two decisive factors which can affect the level of CMS?soluble starch?cationic starch are the amount of starch absorbed by limonite on its surface and the ?on the surface of limonite after starch is absorbed.
