In this thesis, the atmospheric and vacuum distillation tower from a petrochemical project were studied. The drawing and inspection were implemented automaticly by secondary development of AutoCAD using the AutoLISP tool in order to improve work efficiency and standardize the drawings. In this work, the inner parts, such as packing support, Truss beams, fuel tanks, and trays, were analyzed using ANSYS in order to verify the mechanical strength of the designed parts including their structural strength and stiffness requirements to meeting the complicated operation conditions. It is important for further design optimization to strengthen the supports and the connection of oil collecting tank. The results indicated that it should be better to use truss beams as the supporting beam. The failure causes were also discussed by comparing the simulation and experiemtal data. Furthermore, the stress distribution of vacuum column tray and its supporting parts were analyzed in the fluid-solid coupling way by ANSYS Workbench. The results were compared with those in only solid structural way in order to clarify the advantage of the multi-physics method in stress analysis of inner parts of rectifying tower. The cause of failure for the trays was also proposed at the end.
