River health is an important basis for evaluation and means of river management. River health assessment methods mainly include physical evaluation methods, evaluation methods of chemical, biological assessment methods and comprehensive evaluation method, biological assessment methods are currently used widely. In the biological assessment, biological index is the most common method of evaluation. According to the characteristics and the presence or absence of species, the degree of external stress factors on the health of the river can be represented through a simple digital. In taxa, macroinvertebrates has rich species diversity, and ease of collection and specices identification, which itself is relatively long life cycle, poor mobility, the reaction can be sustained over a period of time outside stress on the water environment situation. Therefore, this article selected macroinvertebrates as the target macrobenthos biological evaluation. In river health assessment both at home and abroad, based on macroinvertebrates build rapid biological evaluation indices mainly include the sensitive index, fouling resistance index and diversity index. Compared to other indices, rapid biological assessment index because saving time, effort, and effectively characterizing the health of the river, has obvious advantages. But it has not been well verified in the country, so this study was to compare a variety of rapid biological evaluation index, compare its applicability, and mainly by the following conclusions:Firstly, there is a high correlation between different rapid biological assessment indices, but the rapid biological evaluation indices also have a larger difference indication to stream water quality. Rapid biological assessment of each index can be valid indication of organic pollution in water environment and NH3-N pollution index for different rapid biological evaluation purposes. BMWP index has the best linear fit relationship with ?(CODMn), ?(NH3-N), ?(TN), and the same to BP index with ?(BOD5), EC.Secondly, BMWP index has the the strongest indication to river health. The correlation between BMWPindex and B-IBI index is the most significant and health evaluation results is closest too. In river water quality assessment of the state Hun-Tai River Basin, BMWP index should be served as the preferred rapid biological evaluation index and can achieve fast and accurate results.Thirdly, BMWP index can exceptly be a good indication to organic pollution, eutrophication, and total dissolved solids pollution. As to biodiversity and habitat heterogeneity it also has a good indication.Fourthly, health assessment results show that in Taizi river sampling points, the excellent samples accounted for 30.5%, good samples accounted for 15.2%, and the samples generally accounted for 21.7%, the bad samples accounted for 10.9%, the poor samples accounted for 21.7%.This study provides a rapid biological assessment method to verify the application in the country and some technical support for the next large-scale river basin to carry out rapid health assessment process, biological monitoring and evaluation.
