Marine fouling-organisms restrict the development of marine industry seriously. In the1970 s, With the self-polishing technology development, almost all of the ships have adopted the anti-fouling coatings based on acrylic resin as base material. However, it is difficult to synthesize the copper acrylate resin. Although it has invested a lot of energy, it has not been developed so far,. In addition, cuprous oxide as an good and popular anti-fouling agent due to small toxicity, good anti-fouling performance,but the metal ion of the generally sold cuprous oxide release rate is not uniform,and the metal ion of the micro-nano cuprous oxide release rate is uniform so that it can play effective anti-fouling role in a long time. In this paper,environment friendly acrylic resin for copper and cuprous oxide antifouling agent and their combination.The acrylic resin of side chain hang the carboxyl was prepared by the free radical polymerization reaction of the hard(methyl methacrylate) and soft(ethyl acrylate, butyl acrylate) segment with the AIBN as initiator. Then the copper acrylate resin was prepared by the copper ions was introduced into the side chain of the acrylic resin by the carboxyl react with the copper hydroxide and hydrogenated rosin.Finally,four copper acrylic resins of different glass transition temperature(Tg) were prepared by changing the hard and hard segment content.The structure of the resin was analyzed by IR and GPC, IR validated that the C=C absorption peaks disappeared completely, GPC confirmed that the average molecular weight of the resin is 11000-13000, indicating that the polymerization reaction was completed;The thermal properties of the resin was studied by DSC and TGA, the Tg increased linearly with the increase of the methyl methacrylate content, the thermal stability decreased with the increase of hard segment content. SEM found that the copper ions dispersed uniformly in the resin system, XRD showed that the resin have an amorphous structure. In addition, the four kinds of resin adhesion are excellent, viscosity of resin solution increases modestly with the increase of the hard segment content.And the micro/nano-meter cuprous o-xide anti-fouling agent was synthesized by using liquid-phase method, and the ant-i-fouling performance compared with industrial cuprous oxide. The results show t-hat the micro nano cuprous oxide antifouling performance has certain advantages.F-inally, the above acrylic resin was used as the base material with adding the diff-erent anti-fouling agents to make a anti-foulingcoatings.The anti-fouling effect of coatings was tested by comparing with the overseas famous brands(Jotun, intern-ational and so on).
