The BRICS are currently the hugest economy as a group potentially, in the processing of accelerated urbanization and rapid developing economy. These five countries occupy a big proportion of the total energy consumption, still increasing and producing more CO2. Thus it is very important to do a specific research and analysis about factors of carbon emission and its influence on the BRICS countries. Not only can it provide the five countries with reference for carbon emission reduction, but also create a theoretical foundation for the BRICS countries to make a win-win cooperation on low carbon development. This paper applies the STIRPAT model and PLS regression analysis, quantitatively to study the effects of the total population, per capita GDP, energy intensity, urbanization and industrialization on carbon emissions in the BRICS. Through the modeling and regression based on the time series data of the BRICS countries during 1994-2013, it shows that the main factors of carbon emissions are population(excluding China) and urbanization, indicating accelerated urbanizing and continued population growth are two important reasons for the BRICS under the pressure of carbon emission, which is unavoidable in the process of industrialization and modernization. For higher GDP growing level is an important condition to solve the employment problem for maintaining national stability, per capita GDP is also important. The value of energy intensity is negative, but the absolute value is smal, which means to reduce the emission by promoting the energy intensity is weak. The industrialization of BRICS is in the mid-term, so the industrial proportion effects to a certain degree on carbon emissions. There is bright prospects among the BRICS cooperation, we can use the following actions more pragmatic to recommend a win-win situation.1) BRICS should actively discuss energy cooperation mechanism to establish specialized institutions as a permanent body, push for the establishment of substantial energy cooperation mechanism and advance the formation of solid energy cooperation system.2) The BRICS members can give full play to their respective advantages in the field of energy technology, to jointly promote the development and application of new technology, strengthen technical cooperation in the field of new energy, establishing a new energy cooperation mechanism.3) Through the working led by government, we can enlarge the expansion of investment cooperation with various enterprises related energy, more quickly and efficiently to achieve financial cooperation in the field being carried out.
