Gas engine driven heat pump water heater mainly used for heating, cooling and producing hot water has many advantages, such as high efficiency, energy saving, safety and green, and its benefits are starting to be more widely appreciated. At present, China's energy structure is not reasonable. In order to achieve sustainable development, a combined renewable energy CCHP system has become a hotspot of current research. In this paper, the performance of the gas engine heat pump water heater by theoretical analysis and experimental research was presented, and combined photovoltaic power generation system, its application was analysed. Followings are main study content and results:Firstly, the operation characteristics of a gas engine heat pump water heater under the mode of producing hot water and the situation without considering the heat loss of the mixed were numerically simulated by establishing the numerical model. Then, its working principles and the composition of are introduced briefly in this paper. The experiments with a applied gas engine heat pump water heater experiment system in Tianjin University were done to prove the model.Secondly, the investigations on some factors which have influence on the system performance were done by the model. The conclusion are follows: The instantaneous coefficient and the overall performance of the system with the increase of the water flow rate increases and finally tends to be stable; Overall performance coefficients of the no mixed heat condition are higher than that of the mixed heat condition. As the condenser circulating water flow rate increases, the difference decreases obviously; There are optimum flow rates and times of heating cycles ensuring system performance.Thirdly, with reference to definition of seasonal energy efficiency ratio and using BIN method, seasonal performances of air source heat pump air conditioning system and the gas engine driven heat pump system for four typical areas were analyzed.Fourthly, in order to save energy, reduce emission and ensure economic feasibility of systems simultaneously, a photovoltaic power system combined gas engine heat pump(GP) system for energy supply of office building scheme was presented in this paper. The working principle of system was analyzed. In comparison to a traditional separation production(SP) system and a traditional solar photovoltaic system, the technology, environment and economy evaluation criteria were put forward.Finally, a commercial office building in four cities different regions was selected as a case to design the three systems. Both of performance were analyzed and compared from the perspective of the technology, environment and economy. The results show that compared with the other two systems, the new system not only can reduce the size of the photovoltaic system, but also can effectively reduce the consumption of fossil energy, improve the system of economic and environmental benefits.
