Propylene oxide(PO) is an important organic chemical raw materials. Titanium silicalite(TS-1) catalyst has been shown to be very efficient for the epoxidation of propene with H2O2 oxidant. In the case of TS-1 as catalyst and H2O2 as oxidant, the epoxidation of propene has been proved to be a clean and economically viable alternative to the existing processes for propene epoxide production.TS-1 catalyzed propene epoxidation was studied in the intermittent kettle at high pressure. Under the optimal condition(0.1 g TS-1, 40oC, 60 min, 0.6MPa, 42 mL methanol, 10 mL 1, 2-dichloroethane, 2.0 g 30 wt. % H2O2), the conversion of H2O2 is 99.8%, the selectivity of PO is over 99 %.We simulate the separation of the system with Aspen plus. The separation process includes propylene section, raw material pre-separation section, PO section, methanol dehydration section. The heat consumption of products is 1.97 × 104 kW/t, the purity of PO is over 0.9999. The number of theoretical plates of propylene column is 10,reflux ratio of the column is 10, feeding position of the column is the 5th plate. The number of theoretical plates of the raw material pre-separation column is 36,reflux ratio of the column is 30, feeding position of the column is the18 th plate. The number of theoretical plates of the methanol dehydration column is 30,reflux ratio of the column is 1.5, feeding position of the column is the 15 th plate. The number of theoretical plates of extractive distillation column is 30,reflux ratio of the column is 0.3, feeding position of the column is the 20 th plate, extractant feeding position of the column is the 4th plate, solvent ratio is 0.43. The number of theoretical plates of the extractant recovery column is 30,reflux ratio of the column is 10, feeding position of the column is the 15 th plate.
