As a large-scale modern coal mines, the power supply system of Huainan Xinji Coal Mine is more complex. There are many kinds of the electrical load, which mainly for large power are three-phase asynchronous motors and power electronic converter. There are many problems like low power factor, harmonic content, poor power supply quality in the system. In order to improve voltage stability of the coal mine power supply system effectively, inhibit the generation of harmonics, and improve the power factor of the system, according to the coal mine safety production and the characteristics of electric equipment, and on the based of summarizing the dynamic reactive compensation technology development history and it's advantages and disadvantages, a new reactive power compensation-static reactive power generator (Static Var Generator-SVG) is proposed in this paper. Through accessing to a large number of materials and references and analysis of kinds of advantages and disadvantages of reactive power compensation, SVG dynamic reactive power generator compensation scheme is determined.Firstly, according to the characteristics of the coal mine power supply system and the production equipment system, the reactive power of the coal mine is calculated, and the dynamic reactive power compensation scheme of SVG is determined. According to the working principle of SVG, the dynamic mathematical model of reactive power compensation scheme is established to analysis of SVG with current detection method and control strategy, and space vector control method is used to reactive power regulation function of SVG in the simulation test.Secondly, the correctness and feasibility of the dynamic reactive power compensation scheme in coal mine is analyzed, and the calculation of key parameters for coal mine and the dynamic reactive power compensation capacity reactive power compensation system are discussed. Then the hardware circuit of SVG are designed, using H bridge IGBT power unit series 6kV high voltage static var generator, giving the signal of the SVG device detection circuit, signal processing circuit, DSP control circuit, filter circuit, and so on.Finally, the SVG device is used in mine 6kV distribution network, through the measured data prove the SVG can make dynamic reactive power compensation effectively in coal mine power supply, and effectively restrain the harmonic pollution in the power supply line, improve the power factor and the power supply quality of coal mine power supply system, which brings obvious economic benefits for the coal mine power supply.
