As a secondary level landscape river in Tianjin, the Jin River is charactered by its great amount pollution, slow water flow, river sclerosis and severe sludge siltation, beside its straight channel and weak hydrodynamic force. Hence, Jin River now sustains its flow mainly by pumping water from Haihe River which across it. With deterioration of water quality, intensive residence along the river, and the burden to provide surface water in wet season, the Jin River is also suffering massive pollutants in high concentration, the probability to advanced deteriorate, and severe black and odour problems. This paper aims to monitor water environment in Jin River, conduct statistics analysis, and propose feasible solutions to control black and odour.Based on the statistics analysis of Jin River's water environment data, this paper utilizes both single factor and synthetic pollution index methods, locates main influence factors of black and odour through statistics analysis, regression analysis, and OLS method, surveys the calculation to connect the main factor with the black and odour, and then constructs black and odour index model for Jin River. Moreover, this paper conducts comparative study of the model and testing data, gives quantitive grading of black and odour levels in Jin River, and tests the index model. Studies reveal that, main factors of black and odour in Jin River are CODCr, TN, and NH3-N coming from domestic sewage; Jin River is in long term black and odour judged by the index model and grading method; the proposals, such as washing sewage with clean water and releasing purifying agent, can improve water quality efficiently and significantly. This paper also provides scheduling scheme to washing sewage with clean water.Results of this paper include: 1. collecting Jin River data and pollution status, conducting long term test and statistics analysis to different sections of Jin River on this base, and tracking percentage of each polluting factor and main factors. 2. searching influence factors of black and odour in Jin River, building up correlating index model, and analyzing section water quality in various periods. 3. providing scheduling scheme to wash the channel, and proposing serial control and supporting solutions to water environment treatment, on the basis of Tianjin city planning target and engineering feasibility. 4. calculating water demand of Tianjin landscape rivers in urban area based on project process and treatment measures and comparing the water demand process before and after treatment of Jin River.This paper is able to provide theoretical support to control of pollutants into the river and treatment of Landscape River black and odour in Tianjin city and other similar cities.
