Dalian is a city which seriously lacks water resources. The increasingly prominent contradiction between supply and demand of water resources has adversely affected the sustainable utilization of water resource in Dalian and the sustainable development of social economy. Municipal wastewater reuse is one of the best choices to resolve the water resource crisis in Dalian City.In this dissertation, a reclaimed water utilization programme in central Dalian City by 2020 is proposed based on the analysis of quanlity and quantity of reclaimed water in central Dalin City. The reclaimed water are planned to be reused for industrial purposes, river course replenishment and municipal miscellaneous water by the end of 2020. The provision of reclaimed water is calculated to be 240 million m3/a, which will meet the total demand of 189 million m3/a. Based on the calculation,2 municipal wastewater treatment plants should be expanded and 5 plants should be reformed to meet the higher standards, so that another 0.395 million m3 wastewater will be treated per day. In addition to municipal wastewater treatment plants,10 reclaimed water treatment plants should be newly constructed and 2 should be expanded, so that reclaimed water treatment capacity can reach 0.657 million m3/d. Besides, another 82 km pipelines for reclaimed water supply should be laid out. The direct economic benefits from the reclaimed water project are supposed to be Y303 million annually. The project is also beneficial to the ecosystem such as alleviating water shortage, avoiding pollution and improving urban aesthestics.
