Research On Carved Art On The Sweetmeats Of Miao And Dong In Jingzhou Of Xiangxi

Carved preserved fruit of Miao minority and Dong minority in Jingzhou,Xiang Xi,is not only a local cuisine,but also a folk art and craft.As one of the China's traditional “needlework” cultures,it is an art form that emerges and develops with the long social history of Miao minority and Dong minority.This dissertation refers to relevant historical documents and reorganizes the history of its formation and development since ancient period to explore the cultural origins of the carved preserved fruit.Its inborn environment including natural and social conditions is analyzed.Furthermore,this paper also does the comparison study on the different historical legends of the carved preserved fruit.Taking carved preserved fruit made with green grapefruit and pumpkin as the main examples,the relative production process is introduced for the abundant carving techniques and complex craftsmanship.From the perspective of the artistic semiotics,the constitution theory is applied to analyze the form signifier of the carved preserved fruit.The form of the point,line and surface is taken as the basic form of language to explore the aesthetic law in carved preserved fruit--symmetry,repetition,contrast,unification.Taking the inheritor Luo Xianmei's works as example,her carved graphics can be grouped into four categories and all features,such as full composition,vivid shape,simple colors,artistic blending,rich theme andauspicious artistic characteristics,are found and thus to reveal the cultural meaning of the patterns of carved preserved fruit,which refers to the worships for totem,admiration for life forms,expectation to love and yearning for auspicious things.In addition,it describes the cultural function of the carved preserved fruit in different periods,and as a cultural symbol,it reflects the regional idea identity consciousness in Miao minority and Dong minority,which is the most vivid history book of Miao minority and Dong minority.Finally,finding inspiration for the modern design from the aesthetic form of carved preserved fruit,the sculpt techniques,such as extraction method,hyperbole,perfection method,combination and allegorical method,are summed up to provide a reference for today's designers,which leads out the application significance and prospects of the traditional arts like carved preserved fruit graphic arts in the design.Meanwhile,in the last chapter of this paper,two ideas are proposed for the heritage of Jingzhou carved preserved fruit: one is to establish a database of carved preserved fruit in which material about carving are collected and collated,and the other is to take the road of industrialization and establish an image of tourism brand.
