Recently, hydroxyphthalimide(NHPI) and its analogues have become the focus of attention due to their diversity of structures, unique functional properties, and their potential applications in the field of magnetic materials, electrochemistry, adsorption, catalytic mechanism, new organic synthetic reactions and optical, electrical, storage and others properties. NHPI and its analogues, especially hydroxyphthalimides with the Co, Mn, Cu, Fe and other transition metal catalysis systems, act as a precursor of phthalimido-N-oxyl(PINO) radical due to they can efficiently catalyse various hydrocarbon molecular oxygen oxidation, have aroused great research interest. However, to our knowledge, the coordination chemistry of N-hydroxyphthalimide(NHPI) and its analogues with metal ions are seldom reported by now.In this thesis, we introduced the synthesized methods of N-hydroxyphthalimide(NHPI) and its analogues, which were further reacted with different amine and Cosalen complexes to give a serial of novel complexes by self assembly. These obtained complexes were characterized and analyzed by X-ray single crystal diffraction, infrared spectroscopy(IR), nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR) and elemental analysis. At the same time, we classified the crystal coordinations of the obtained crystal complexes, and selected the compounds with special functional properties according to the space groups in theory. Further explore on their properties and applications in practice are under the way.
