The sharp increase in urban population and the rapid development of urbanization result in serious environmental problems such as the disposal of sludge in the real world. The reasonable degree of sludge treatment relates to the economic development and environmental construction of a city. Properly disposal of the sludge is the key to guaranteeing the rational development of the city. Based on the technique of artificial line, the sludge water is investigated by utilizing the high-voltage pulse with the maximum amplitude 20 kV.Firstly, the properties of sludge are described in detail in this thesis. The feasibility and work mechanism of disposal of the sludge by using the high-voltage pulse are analyzed. A linear pulse modulator based on the artificial line is designed. The principle and characteristics of linear modulation type pulse source are investigated, which provide the basis for the design of artificial line network parameters.Secondly, the hardware circuit consisted of high-voltage DC power source and high-voltage pulse is proposed based on the circuit design requirements. By designing the main circuit parameters and choosing the components, we give the designs of control circuit, drive circuit, auxiliary circuit, hydrogen thyratron trigger circuit.Then, from the perspective of obtaining a higher field strength in the optimization parameters except of voltage, the ANSYS finite element analysis software is utilized to analyze the electric field in sludge treatment chamber with those influence factors, such as pulse amplitude, electrode spacing, length of the exposed tip, tip radius of curvature in condition of “needle plate” electrode. And we can obtain the optimal parameters of the discharge electrode.Finally, the LTSPICE simulations are conducted to verify the correctness of the theory of pulse circuit. And a simple high-voltage pulse sludge treatment equipment is established. Through the debugging analysis of each unit circuit, the high-voltage pulse power source meets with the design requirements. We utilize the developed pulse device to dispose the sludge and observe its effect and feasibility. It should be pointed out that changing the voltage on treatment effect is more significant than the influence of changing pulse width and frequency. The results show that the high-voltage pulse has effect on sludge disposal and basically completed the original intention of experimental research.
