With the application of thermoplastic polymer materials in our daily lives and building industry, its thermal performance exhibit very important. After contact with high temperature the molten droplet can easy to ignite other materials, accelerating flame propagation. Therefore,it is necessary to improve the drop properties of thermoplastic polymer materials. The main method is to add PTFE powders as an anti-dripping agent currently because of kinds of excellent properties from PTFE such as fiber forming property, chemical stability, high temperature resistance, radiation resistance, low coefficient of friction etc. However,PTFE have the poor compatibility with polymer,Therefore,we used copolymer coated PTFE which contained one or two of the styrene, acrylonitrile, and methyl propionate monomers to improve compatibility. In order to get PTFE particles which coated by copolymer effectively and larger anti-dripping agent particles in subsequent process, herein,we utilized in-situ polymerization, adding monomer, initiator, and emulsifier into the PTFE emulsions.Through this way we can got coated PTFE particles by using less monomers, and improved thecompatibility between anti-dripping agents and polymer which improved the anti-dripping property.Finially we used UL-94 to asses the materials combustion performance. The results showed that the droplet phenomenon of thermoplastic polymer materials had been improved obviously.
